ndian Super League (ISL)’s Regulatory Commission concluded its disciplinary hearing into the scuffle and controversy post the 2015 ISL Final by slapping a fine of Rs 11 crore on FC Goa and banning owners Dattaraj Salgaocar for three seasons and Srinivas Dempo for two seasons from associating in ISL activities or entering the stadium. Additionally, FC Goa will start next season with -15 points.
At the final hearing, FC Goa were facing the allegations of violating ISL Regulations namely for ‘boycotting match and league ceremony’, ‘public criticism and threatening match officials,’ ‘alleging that the match were fixed,’ and ‘non-adherence of League rules’.
The rulings read:
Mr. Dattaraj Salgaocar shall be banned from associating with any activity pertaining to ISL matches (including entering stadium) for three (3) ISL seasons.
Mr. Srinivas Dempo shall be banned from associating with any activity pertaining to ISL matches (including entering stadium) for two (2) ISL seasons.
FC Goa team shall be docked 15 (fifteen) points in the next ISL season.
A sum of Rs 10 crore (Rupees Ten Crores Only) shall be paid by FC Goa to FSDL towards penalty / fine as well as costs; and
A sum of Rs 1 crore (Rupees One Crore Only) shall be paid by FC Goa to Chennaiyin FC towards costs.
The case involves a scuffle after the final where FC Goa lost 3-2 to Chennaiyin with Salgaocar alleging he was physically assaulted by Chennaiyin’s Elano Blumer.
Dattaraj had filed an FIR after which Elano was arrested but released a day later.
FC Goa who were sent a notice to present their case on April 11 and 12 by the commission opted to stay out.
