Karbonn K9 Viraat launched in India for Rs 5,990

Karbonn K9 Viraat launched in India for Rs 5,990Karbonn has just unveiled the K9 Viraat in the country. If you're wondering, the name stems from the fact that it has a 5.5-inch display. Barring this, the handset barely has anything to cheer about. For the price of Rs 5,990, one would expect features like 4G LTE to be on board. But that's not the case here as the Karbonn K9 Viraat is settling for 3G HSPA. The handset can be purchased from Amazon India and Snapdeal.

Surprisingly, there are devices for under Rs 5,000 that support 4G LTE, so it goes without saying that Karbonn has missed a trick here. It seems like the Karbonn K9 Viraat is targeted towards the rural markets of the country, which might partially justify the absence of 4G LTE.

Thankfully, retailers like Amazon are offering the K9 Viraat for Rs 5,199, so you might not end up paying Rs 5,999 after all. Barring the 5.5-inch HD display and the inclusion of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, there's nothing to write home about on the K9 Viraat.

Karbonn K9 Viraat hardware specs include:

Display: 5.5-inch HD (1280x720) display
