A solar-powered airplane landed in suburban
Phoenix Monday night after a daylong flight
from California—the latest leg in its around
the world journey using only energy from the
sun.
The Swiss-made Solar
Impulse 2 arrived in the suburb of Goodyear, just to the southwest of
Phoenix, shortly before
 9 p.m. PDT.
Pilot Andre Borschberg
called the 16-hour trip "a beautiful flight," after
 stepping from the cockpit.
"It was a special flight; not a long flight," he
added.
The aircraft took off from Mountain View in
northern California shortly after 5 a.m.
It began its globe-circling journey last year,
and flew from Hawaii to the Silicon Valley last
 week.
After Phoenix, the plane will make two more
stops in the United States before crossing the
Atlantic Ocean to Europe or northern Africa, according to the website documenting the journey.
For several minutes after arriving, Borschberg
remained aboard as powerful winds buffeted the aircraft, forcing the ground crew to hold down it down with straps.
"Sometimes it is more difficult to handle the
airplane on the ground than in flight," he told
reporters later.
Video from cameras aboard the aircraft as well
as on the ground at the Goodyear airport
showed the Solar Impulse as it flew through
the night sky enroute to its safe touch down
southwest of Phoenix.

Hours earlier, shortly after takeoff, Borschberg used his phone to snap photos of the sun coming up along the horizon. Then he prepared for media interviews and made breakfast plans.
"I'm heating up water for coffee," Borschberg told his ground crew. "A nice Nescafe."
His co-pilot, Bertrand Piccard, also of Switzerland, made the three-day trip from Hawaii to the heart of Silicon Valley, where he landed last week.

The Solar Impulse 2's wings, which stretch wider than those of a Boeing 747, are equipped with 17,000 solar cells that power propellers and charge batteries. The plane runs on stored energy at night.
The two legs to cross the Pacific were the riskiest part of the plane's travels because of the lack of emergency landing sites.
"We have demonstrated it is feasible to fly many days, many nights, that the technology works" said Borschberg, 63, who piloted the plane during a five-day trip from Japan to Hawaii and who kept himself alert by doing yoga poses and meditation.

The crew was forced to stay in Oahu for nine months after the plane's battery system sustained heat damage on its trip from Japan.
The single-seat aircraft began its voyage in March 2015 from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates and made stops in Oman, Myanmar, China and Japan.
The layovers will give the pilots a chance to swap places and engage with local communities along the way so they can explain the project, which is estimated to cost more than $100 million and began in 2002 to highlight the importance of renewable energy and the spirit of innovation.

Android Marshmallow now on 7.5 per cent devices

Android Marshmallow is now on 7.5 per cent of active devices, nearly one year after the OS was first announced at Google’s annual I/O developer conference.
The latest numbers come just two weeks before Google I/O 2016 starts in San Francisco, where the search giant is expected to release Android N.
According to Android Developers dashboard, Android Lollipop, which was announced in 2014, still runs on almost 36 per cent of devices, while KitKat OS, which is three years old, is active on 32.5 per cent devices.
In order to fix the problem of Android fragmentation where many smartphones are still running on older versions of the OS, Google had announced an early preview of Android N for its Nexus devices.
This is the first time that a developer preview has been made available ahead of the official I/O conference. Google also announced that Android N preview will be available for Sony Xperia Z3.

Google is looking at reducing bloatware from its end by making some apps non-compulsory.  For instance, OEMs are no longer required to install apps like Google Play Games, etc.
While Google is taking the right steps to bring its latest OS to masses, in the end it is the OEMs who can speed up delivery.

Apple iPhone 7 might have a headphone jack after all, claims latest leak

ill they kill the 3.5 mm headphone jack or won’t they? Apple’s iPhone 7 and the leaks around the device are causing some confusion. While most of the earlier rumours claimed the headphone jack will be gone in iPhone 7 series, a new set of leaked images indicate something else.
Apple Insider has put out a report quoting French website Nowhereelse that the headphone jack and current Lightning charger are here to stay.
Nowhereelse.fr put out pictures of a new part for the iPhone 7, which was spotted on Chinese social media website Weibo. Based on the pictures, the layout looks very similar to the cable for the iPhone 6s, and yes the 3.5 headphone jack is there.
The report contradicts all rumours and leaks that have come out so far, which claimed that Apple was getting rid of the 3.5 mm headphone jack. Some reports also say that the company is working on Bluetooth supported EarPods. Others hinted at new wireless Beats headphones, which could be sold separately.
Recently design schematics of an ‘iPhone 7 Pro’ were published in Japanese Magazine Mac Fan, which claimed that this ‘Pro’ phone will come with dual-lens iSight camera, and no headphone jack. Instead there will be a Smart Connector where battery cases, other docks can be plugged in, claimed the report. The ‘Smart Connector’ photos also showed three dots at the back of the iPhone 7 Pro.
Like all Apple rumours, we’ll have to take these with a pinch of salt.  Apple ditching the 3.5 mm headphone jack might be worrying for some of us who rely on regular headphones, but the company is known for technological leaps, and forcing users to give up their old and much loved accessories.
Meanwhile Apple CEO Tim Cook said on CNBC’s Mad Money show hosted by Jim Cramer, that the iPhone 7 will be irresistible, and most users will want to upgrade.
“We are going to give you things that you can’t live without…You will look back and wonder: ‘How did I live without this?’” is what Cook said when talking about the new iPhone 7. Whether that includes a headphone jack or not, only time will tell.

1. Everyone Has a Story in Life
A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…
“Dad, look the trees are going behind!”
Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed…
“Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”
The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…
“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?”The old man smiled and said…“I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.
Every single person on the planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.
2. Shake off Your Problems
A man's favorite donkey falls into a deep precipice; He can't pull it out no matter how hard he tries; He therefore decides to bury it alive.
Soil is poured onto the donkey from above. The donkey feels the load, shakes it off, and steps on it; More soil is poured.
It shakes it off and steps up; The more the load was poured, the higher it rose; By noon, the donkey was grazing in green pastures.
After much shaking off (of problems) And stepping up (learning from them), One will graze in GREEN PASTURES.
3. The Elephant Rope
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.
Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?
Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.
4. Potatoes, Eggs, and Coffee Beans
Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.
Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot.
He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing.
After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.
He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup. Turning to her he asked. “Daughter, what do you see?”
“Potatoes, eggs, and coffee,” she hastily replied.
“Look closer,” he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face.
“Father, what does this mean?” she asked.
He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity– the boiling water.
However, each one reacted differently.
The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak.
The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard.
However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new.
“Which are you,” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? “
Moral:In life, things happen around us, things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is what happens within us.
Which one are you?
5. A Dish of Ice Cream
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
“How much is an ice cream sundae?”
“50 cents,” replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied a number of coins in it.
“How much is a dish of plain ice cream?” he inquired. Some people were now waiting for a table and the waitress was a bit impatient.
“35 cents,” she said brusquely.
The little boy again counted the coins. “I’ll have the plain ice cream,” he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and departed.
When the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what she saw.
