Apple will be showcasing the next versions of its platforms this year on June 5th at their 28th annual Worldwide Developer Conference, WWDC. Although, the biggest change this time is the location which is moved over to San Jose, closer to the company’s corporate campus in Cupertino, instead of San Francisco.
The event will be held the week of June 5 through 9, and registration for the same will commence on March 27. Phil Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple Inc., mentioned that WWDC 2017 will be roughly hosting 5,000 developers, and 1,000 engineers San Jose’s McEnery Convention Center. Apple will be introducing the future of its leading operating systems – iOS (that is now on its eleventh version), MacOS, TvOS, and WatchOS. However, of course, this event will be primarily about what goes behind what you see, featuring advancements Apple has made in various technologies such as the programming language, Swift, developer APIs like SiriKit™, HomeKit™, HealthKit™, and more.
Alike every WWDC, we aren’t expecting any hardware announcements this year too. Although, there was some news of MacBook Pro upgrades surfing around earlier. We do anticipate what Apple has planned for iOS 11 as it will be powering the 10th anniversary iPhones. Furthermore, this year’s developer conference will be most probably largely of machine learning and artificial intelligence, a field where Apple is still believed to be far behind its fellow rivals. The keynote will be live streamed on Apple’s official website, and also, on the WWDC app available for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
Google also recently officiated dates for its developer conference, I/O which will be held this year on May 17th.
