5 Features that Should Now Become Standard on Budget MOBILE

Budget smartphones have never been in a better state, teeming with competition and features you’d never expect from a non-flagship product. However, OEMs have sort of overlooked the essential aspects while trying to take the lead and coming up with the most standout hardware. Hence, in this article, we highlight five such components.

1. The Most Recent Android Update

Alright, we understand that releasing the latest Android updates isn’t as straightforward as people think, even the most sumptuous smartphones don’t receive them on time. But the least OEMs can do is to launch new ones with the most recent Android version. The majority of budget handsets released in the first half of 2017 were running Marshmallow which is quite disappointing.

2. Minumim 32GB of Internal Storage

Apple finally updates to 32GB of base ROM on the iPhone 7, and so did Samsung. We now expect budget smartphone markers to follow the trend and get rid of the ridiculous 16GB base models. With cameras getting better and apps getting bigger, it’s high time we get at least 32GB of internal storage on all smartphones.

3. USB Type-C

Unfortunately, OEMs didn’t get the USB Type-C memo this year. MicroUSB is becoming obsolete, yet most budget smartphones didn’t make any progress. USB Type-C is better in every possible way and you also don’t have to worry about inserting it in from the wrong side.

4. Industry-Standard Quick Charging

Yes, the majority of smartphones feature a sufficient battery for lasting one or even two days in some cases. But they take several hours to charge and even if an OEM is smart and provides support for quick charging, it’s never the industry-standard meaning the bundled adapter will only do the trick. Therefore, it is utmost necessary for smartphone makers to jump on the standard tech bandwagon.

5. Dedicated Slot for MicroSD Card

The industry has embarked on this unnecessary “hybrid slot” trend since the past year for preserving an infinitesimal amount of space. However, adding a dedicated slot for a MicroSD slot and Dual-SIM is significantly a better prospect and customers now tend to prefer smartphones that don’t sport the hybrid slot such as the Samsung Galaxy series.
