Huawei India to focus more on the mid-ranged market:report

Huawei has mentioned that it will increase its focus on the mid-ranged market in India. This is a wise call to make given how high-end phones don’t seem to do all that well in the country. The sub-Rs 20,000 segment is highly lucrative for manufacturers right now and it’s clear that Huawei wants to leverage that on a bigger scale. This basically means that we will see more mid-ranged handsets from the company in the days to come. As it stands, Huawei doesn’t sell a lot of high-end handsets in the country, so this shouldn’t make much of a difference to its current portfolio of handsets.

The company has set its sights on becoming the top 5 manufacturers in the country, and this seems to be the only way to do it. Huawei is one of the biggest OEMs in its home region China, and with a similar strategy, the company can replicate the success in India as well.

Will it work?

By launching more phones in the Rs 10,000-20,000 segment, Huawei can change up the game significantly. To achieve this goal, Huawei will probably launch a handful of new smartphones in the region, which is very good news for the Indian consumers. However, given the kind of competition it faces in the market, achieving this goal might not be as easy as it seems.

Speaking on this, Huawei India Consumer Business Group President Peter Zhai said, "We have seen maximum growth in India taking place in Rs. 10,000-20,000 range. Huawei will increase focus in this segment in India. Having said that we will not compromise on quality and get into specification game. Huawei will continue to focus on users' experience."
