Reliance Jio launched the JioPhone at July 21 in Mumbai. The phone is neither a smartphone nor a typical feature phone, it lies between the two. The phone will effectively cost zero to the users and will come bundled with Rs 153 plan. The phone has made headlines for the price point and features that have never been seen before in any feature phone.
While the company, through a slide show, already gave us a clear picture of how the phone would look like and what are the special features that it would come with, it missed on a major information related to the phone's camera. It did not tell us if the phone would have a front camera or not. Also what would be the resolution of the rear camera. .The news website has shared images of the JioPhone brochure that shows that the JioPhone will come with 2MP front camera and 2MP rear camera. Also, the phone will have 4GB internal memory which would be expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. This means you can also make video calls along with voice calls from your JioPhone.
User can press the 0 key in the phone to access web. You can watch YouTube videos, access Facebook, look for weather forecast, download wallpapers and lot more with the JioPhone.
JioCinema
The image shared by the news website reveals that the JioPhone would allow unlimited video streaming from a library of more than 6000 movie on JioCinema. There will be more than 6000 music videos, more than 1 lakh hours of advertisement free HD content in 10 different languages.

JioPhones users can listen to music from a catalogue of more than 1 core HD songs in more than 20 languages.
Personalise your JioPhone
User can set his/her choice of language in the phone. The JioPhone supports following 22 official languages- Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Sanskrit, Urdu, Malayalam, Manipuri, Nepali, Marathi, Santhali, Maithili, Sindhi and Konkani.
GPS navigation on JioPhone
JioPhone users can also access Google Maps and Navigation as JiPhone also comes with GPS.
Connect JioPhone with TV
The company along with JioPhone had also launched a Jio TV connector that would allow users to mirror their Jio content on the TV. You can connect your JioPhone with any type of TV, be it LCD or CRT. The Jio TV connector will cost
Jio Assistant
JioPhone would come with Jio Assistant. Just like Google Assistant, user needs to give the command and the Assistant will perform the task in the phone. A demo of this was also given at the launch of the phone.
JioPhone pre-booking
The pre-booking for JioPhone starts from August 24 while the phone will be delivered by the first week of September. The beta testing for the phone has already started from August 15.
To pre-book a JioPhone, user needs to register at Jio.com. Once the pre-booking opens, user will be informed via mail or SMS about it. User can also pre-book the phone via MyJio app on phones or via SMS. For offline purchase, user should visit a nearby Jio Store or a Jio retailer.
JioPhone WhatsApp rumour
There were rumours in past that Jio is in talks with WhatsApp to create a special version of the app that could run on JioPhone. However, Alan Kao who is a software engineer at WhatsApp, during an interactive session with Indian media has said that he is not aware of any such plans. This means that JioPhone could most probably come without WhatsApp.
