Xiaomi will announce the Redmi Note 5A, the next entry-level smartphone from the company at an event in China later today. The handset could be the replacement for its best-selling Redmi 4 handset and its design and specifications have been revealed ahead of the official announcement.
TheRedmi Note 5a first leaked in the form of retail packaging last month and it was followed with official renders from Xiaomi's CEO on Weibo, China's microblogging platform. The handset seems to sport a design similar to existing Redmi series and might launch in a wide array of colours. The handset has already received certification from China's TENAA and the listing has confirmedthe features of the device.
he TENAA listing suggests that the Redmi Note 5A will feature a 5.5-inch 720p HD display and will be powered by either a Snapdragon 425 or Snapdragon 430 SoC. The Redmi 4 is also powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 chipset so there is a possibility that Xiaomi will stick with Snapdragon 430 for the Redmi Note 5 as well. The smartphone is expected to arrive in two storage options: a 2GB RAM variant with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM variant offering 32GB internal storage.
